Old School

For the last year I have been reading al kinds of different books. Books on church, life, God, music and much more. I started my masters at JBC and my reading adventure continued with Greek books and helps for my classes. I really like to read but lastly I am tired of reading all the new school books. I have read Think Orange, Drops like Stars, books on leadership and preaching and the more I read the more I am getting tired of hearing what I should be doing. I know I sound like someone who is built up with pride or maybe even someone who has it all together. Nothing could be further from the truth. I feel like I don't know enough and I have so many questions that I have turned to every book under the sun expect the one that matters.

I couple of weeks ago I put all those books down and started reading the Bible. Not for a sermon and not for a lesson just reading it to glean all that I can from it. I have been reading at least 3 or 4 books a week out of the bible and I am loving it. I have fallen in love with this book once again. I am reading it with a renewed sense of passion and vision and I can't keep my hands off it. It has amazing power and there is something special that happens when it is just you and the Holy Spirit and the Word of God together. These words last forever and have changed my life.

I don't know when the last time you just read the bible to see how great God is. I am not sure how often you read it or what you think of it but I would ask you to take sometime this week and jump into this amazing book. Read it and see what God has in store for you and remember why its the best selling book of all time.
